I have two of the lip sculpt amplifying color lip crayons. I have the colors quartz which is in their modern essentials kit, and the color beams which I bought separately. I absolutely love beams because it is a very, very nice flattering neutral shade of color that absolutely matches my skin tone perfectly. I am Hispanic, with a light medium skin color range, with neutral to olive undertones. Ther quartz shade is a bit too pinky, but beams is perfect.
They show promise, but honestly for the price of $26.00 I am not sure if they are worth the purchase (Yes, I am still talking about the lip crayons). It is honestly not an item I would recommend or keep as a staple in my makeup or call this a holy grail by all means.
Rose Inc markets these lip crayons as "saturated matte color with the benefits of a balm." Furthermore, they add "it glides on to “fill” lips". I found that far, far from the truth.
My lips aren't crusty, they aren't dry. I always keep a lip balm at all times to keep them moisturized. I have tried lipsticks that are so, so hydrating and lipsticks that are flat out drying. These lip crayons are in between both, more in the side of drying.
First off, Rosie's favorite shade is the Quartz color of lip crayon (and of course it is very flattering on her). On her videos and promos on insta, the color quartz comes off as this super cute, light, almost neutral pink, but when I first tried it on it was soooo dark.
I tried again a second and third time and thought. Maybe it's because I'm Hispanic and the shade looks off on me? Then I put a clear lip oil, and then the lip crayon on top and wow did that make a difference! It finally looked like Rosie's on her Insta videos and of course if she is selling this and it's her favorite shade, I want it!
Only then did the lip crayon worked as it was advertised, and mind you, I have 2, so it can't just be a bad batch.
I do think it's unfair that as consumers, we are paying $26 for a hydrating lip crayon, yet it's completely far from that. You have to use a vehicle lip oil, or lip balm to get a "softer" shade of the color without it coming out too harsh and to get that proper hydration you are looking for. When in reality we should be getting that from the get-go.
The only reason I am not knocking out another star to 3 total is because I love Rose Inc. I love their line and everything else. But these lip crayons need a real hydrating formulation. Or better yet, if Rose Inc wants to make money, make an actual clear lip oil. That you can wear solo as a balm, and also pair it with a lip crayon to get the look that Rosie actually achieves in her video reels on Instagram.
All in all, this brand is showing to be very promising and delivering (for the most part). Rose Inc is marketing themselves to women so they can feel luxurious, sophisticated, chic, with their products and I am here for all that because what woman doesn't want to feel like that?
Minimalistic makeup, yet powerful Yes, please.
