The makeup color that instantly changes everything

For this week’s Intersect by Lexus event in NYC, Rosie went for a sultry but soft look with an unexpected pop of lilac leading the palette. We’re feeling shades of lavender right now, and makeup artist Nikki DeRoest got the memo. “I did a soft smoky feline shaped eye,” she says. “But I added some elements of sparkle throughout the lid to mimic what you see on her Christopher Kane dress. The other eyeshadow tones were soft, with a slight warm purple hue to richen up and play off of the pink silk of the dress.”

To achieve this royal look, she kept Rosie’s skin and highlight natural, using blendable, lightweight products and minimal layers. Because sometimes a look that’s easy on the eyes makes the biggest statement on them, too.

SKIN

“I love doing clean and fresh skin on Rosie, with highlight and glow in all the right places,” DeRoest says. Starting with clean, bare skin, pat BareMinerals Skinlongevity serum into the skin for a supple base. Then apply Tata Harper Creme Riche starting at the center of the face and working outward. For a glossy, moisture-rich finish, apply Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream at high points like the bridge of the nose, browbones, and cheekbones.

FOUNDATION

Apply BareMinerals Bare Pro Foundation starting at the T-zone and working outward again, making sure the center of the face is expertly blurred and blended while seamlessly fading to the edges of your face. Use your fingertips to dab on It Cosmetics Bye-Bye Undereye concealer, and set it all with BareMinerals Original Loose Powder for a locked-in coverage that looks and feels natural.

CONTOUR

The Dior Backstage Contour Palette has a spectrum of hues to shade different areas of the face accurately, like the nose which gets the lighter colors, while the cheekbones are carved out using deeper shades. Nars powder blush in Impassioned gives an innocent rush to your apples with a brush lightly dusted and tapped, first. A combination of BareMinerals BarePro Glow in Free with a touch of Hourglass Cosmetics Vanish in Champagne applied with your fingers leaves an understated dew that doesn’t detract from the main event.

EYES

Blend Marc Jacobs Beauty Eyeshadow Palette in Frivoluxe with NARS Velvet Shadow Stick in Reykjavik to achieve this deep and dusky lid with hints of lilac. Carefully amplify the eye with Shiseido Archliner Ink to give the precision you need when everything else is leaning towards a soft smudge. Use a few coats of Hourglass Cosmetics Mascara in Caution to bring lashes to new heights. Stay tuned for the pop of shimmer on the eye—DeRoest concocted her very own eyeshadow, coming soon! Known for her natural looks with full, youthful brows, she kept the framing simple with Chanel Stylo Sourcils brow pencil.

LIP

“We finished with a lip color close to her natural one,” DeRoest says, “but I wanted it to look fresh, so I added a hint of the classic MAC Lip Glass on top.” Dior Backstage Lip Palette moved to center stage on this look, dimensional and demanding attention with a sweep of MAC Lip Glass.

BODY

Rosie’s dewy-all-over vibe is thanks to Dr. Barbara Sturm Body Cream.
